India Energy Week 2026 to Be Held in Goa from January 27 to 30

Panaji, Goa | India Energy Week 2026 (IEW 2026) will be held from January 27 to 30, 2026, in Goa, bringing together global leaders from the energy sector to deliberate on strengthening energy security, boosting investments, and reducing carbon emissions. The four-day event will host ministers, global CEOs, policymakers, financial institutions, academics, and technology providers from across the world.

Recognised as the first major international energy conference of the year, IEW 2026 will focus on practical and measurable solutions at a time when global energy systems face rising demand, geopolitical uncertainty, and increasing pressure to meet climate commitments. Building on the success of previous editions, the upcoming conference is expected to witness participation from over 120 countries.

The 2025 edition of India Energy Week attracted more than 68,000 participants, including 570 exhibitors and 5,400 conference delegates, and featured over 100 conference sessions with 540+ global speakers. With an expanded format and broader global participation, IEW 2026 is set to further strengthen its position among the world’s leading energy dialogue platforms.

Organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, the event is jointly hosted by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) and DMG Events. IEW serves as a neutral, globally connected platform fostering collaboration on energy security, affordability, and sustainability. Delegations from the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region are expected to participate, highlighting India Energy Week’s growing role in global energy diplomacy.

According to the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook 2025, India alone will account for over 23 percent of the growth in global energy demand by 2050, the highest for any country. Against this backdrop, IEW 2026 will provide a crucial forum for policymakers and industry leaders to discuss resilient energy systems and accelerate the clean energy transition.

Showcasing India’s Reform-Oriented Energy Framework

India Energy Week 2026 will highlight India’s reform-driven energy model, which balances economic growth, climate commitments, and consumer protection. Key legislative and regulatory reforms under the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Act, 2025, and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Rules, 2025, have strengthened the upstream ecosystem. These include a single petroleum lease for exploration, production, decarbonisation, and integrated energy projects; time-bound approvals within 180 days; long-term leases of up to 30 years extendable to the economic life of oilfields; infrastructure-sharing mechanisms; and investor risk-mitigation provisions such as arbitration and compensation safeguards.

Clean Energy and Ethanol Programme in Focus

India’s ethanol blending programme has emerged as a global benchmark. Since 2014, it has resulted in foreign exchange savings of ₹1.59 lakh crore, a reduction of 81.3 million metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions, substitution of 27 million metric tonnes of crude oil, payments of ₹2.32 lakh crore to ethanol distillers by oil marketing companies, and ₹1.39 lakh crore paid directly to farmers. In this context, IEW 2026 will place strong emphasis on biofuels, green hydrogen, sustainable fuels, and emerging low-carbon technologies.

Infrastructure Expansion and Energy Security

India continues to strengthen long-term energy security through domestic oil exploration and infrastructure expansion. Retail fuel outlets have increased from around 52,000 in 2014 to over 1 lakh in 2025. The number of CNG stations has grown from 968 to over 8,477, while domestic PNG connections have risen from 25 lakh to over 1.59 crore. The natural gas pipeline network has expanded by nearly 66 percent to more than 25,923 km, with city gas distribution now available across the country, except in island territories.

Price Stability and Consumer Protection

Despite global volatility in energy prices, India has maintained price stability for domestic consumers. While petrol and diesel prices rose sharply in major global economies after 2021, India recorded significantly lower prices in 2025 compared to 2021. Central excise duties were reduced by ₹13 per litre on petrol and ₹16 per litre on diesel, benefits that were passed on to consumers. Oil marketing companies further reduced prices by ₹2 per litre in March 2024. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, LPG prices for beneficiaries have been maintained at around ₹553 per cylinder, among the lowest globally.

A Global Platform for Energy Dialogue

The four-day IEW 2026 programme will feature ministerial roundtables, CEO dialogues, public-private sector discussions, technology showcases, exhibitions, networking events, and media engagements. Special sessions will focus on the hydrogen economy, green finance, sustainable fuels, circularity, digital transformation, and workforce development. An expanded exhibition with country-specific pavilions will showcase hundreds of companies across the energy value chain.

India Energy Week has emerged as the country’s premier global energy platform, bringing together government leaders, industry executives, and innovators to advance a secure, sustainable, and affordable energy future. As a neutral international forum, IEW promotes investment, policy alignment, and technological collaboration.

India Energy Week 2026 will be held in Goa from January 27 to 30, marking another milestone in India’s leadership in global energy dialogue.
